Winter has come and it’s here to stay! And with the ongoing pandemic, it is the perfect season for falling sick! Although, we do have all our tips and tricks to deal with illness, is there a way we can avoid falling sick in the first place? If yes, how do we make it happen? If you’re looking for answers for similar questions, you’ve come to the right place! Here are some of the tips to keep in mind to stay healthy! Let’s begin.

1. Fluids are Important!

We’ve all heard the importance of drinking water over and over again, so much, that we’re even willing to overlook this point. However, drinking water is crucial to staying healthy. According to experts, you should drink 1 litre of water for every 20kg of weight. That can be a bit difficult to practice, but what you can do is start off your day by drinking water. The body is dehydrated when it wakes up, hence, drinking water first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day, and has immediate effects. If you like drinking warm water, you can also induce non-caffeinated tea in your water.

2. Exercise!

Winters equals to a Lazy Season for many of us. Who doesn’t like staying cuddled up in their blankets all day long? Well, if you want to know how to boost immunity, you might have to cancel your lazy sessions. We often think exercise is a solution to chronic illnesses such as heart disease or blood pressure, or for weight management, but it could not be far from the truth. Exercise is a great way to improve your general health and immune system. When you exercise, the blood circulation in the body improves significantly, thus allowing the cells to move more freely around your body and enables them to do their work more efficiently.

3. Avoid Stress

Stress makes you weaker, and no, this is not a philosophical take! If you take a lot of stress every day, your system is forced to work towards overcoming that stress. How you can overcome a period of stress is subjective to each individual. But it is recommended that you must de-stress every once in a while. Self-care is of extreme importance.

4. Sleep Well

A lot of people take this point for-granted, claiming that the sleep they get is ‘sufficient’ for them. But quantifying sleep in terms of sufficiency is not the play. Sleeping is a regenerative process. When you are sleeping, all the immune cells which you’ve lost during the day replenish themselves. Thus, better sleep equals a better immune system!

5. Balance Your Diet!

You’ve probably heard this enough, but maybe not enough to understand the gravity of it! Eat lots of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, etc. to improve your immune system, and try and Minimize processed foods, sugar and beverages that have no nutrient value to add to your diet.

These points are difficult to implement all at once, but slowly, If you can incorporate them in your day-to-day routine, they will have a very positive and lasting impact on your immune system!
